Pegasus Airlines periodically publishes job postings for Trainee Second Officer candidates and enrolls successful applicants into the MPL Cadet Pilot Program.
Pegasus Airlines does not operate its own flight school. Candidates accepted into the program are directed to authorized partner flight schools such as AYJET and AFA for their pilotage training.
MPL stands for Multi-Crew Pilot License. This license type was developed by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and is based on a training approach that focuses on airline operational needs and cockpit teamwork.
The training process is largely conducted via simulators, providing a controlled, standardized, and high-safety training environment.
This period, covering theoretical training and flight applications, lasts approximately 15 months. The Type Rating phase is about 6 months.
The total cost is 110,000 Euro. This amount is repaid through deductions from salary after starting duty as a Second Officer.
Exam stages, interviews, and medical check-up process
The evaluation process consists of the following stages:
These four stages provide a clear framework for the core qualities expected of a pilot:
The intervals between stages may vary depending on the number of candidates and the timing of new fleet openings.
In general, this process can be completed within a few weeks to several months, depending on conditions.
Exam details, iTEP process, and certificate exemption
Candidates who submit a valid language certificate during application skip the English exam stage and proceed directly to the CASE assessment.
Candidates who cannot provide a valid language certificate during or after application are invited to two-stage English exams.
Candidates who pass the first exam are invited to the second. Those successful in both proceed to the CASE stage.
Candidates who fail the 1st or 2nd exam are granted additional time to submit a language certificate. The duration is specified in the negative result email sent by Pegasus. Those who submit the certificate continue with CASE, while those who cannot have their application terminated.
The English proficiency placement exam applied by Pegasus covers Grammar, Vocabulary, and Reading.
60 minutes are given for 50 questions.
3 wrong answers eliminate 1 correct answer.
Candidates who successfully pass the Pegasus English placement exam are called for the iTEP Intern exam as the next step. This exam is held at an iTEP test center and consists of Listening and Speaking sections.
Psychometric assessment, retest process, and waiting periods
Candidates who successfully complete the English exams or submit a valid certificate receive an invitation for the psychometric assessment called CASE.
The exam consists of 9 modules. Each module has 3 phases. There is NO BREAK between modules. Total duration is 90-120 minutes.

The time between English exams and CASE may vary based on candidate density and fleet planning.
Candidates who pass the CASE exam proceed to the Board Interview stage.
The path for unsuccessful candidates is outlined in the negative result email sent by Pegasus. This email usually states that a rescheduling request can be made after at least 3 months or that a new application must be submitted for the next posting.
Interview content, document check, and height-weight measurement
Candidates passing the CASE proceed to Board Interview, Document Check, and Height-Weight measurement steps. The invitation timing remains uncertain.
The Board Interview is held at the Pegasus Headquarters on the designated date. The interview itself lasts about 30 minutes. Successful candidates continue to the Medical Check stage.
For those receiving a negative result, the email from Pegasus will specify if they can request a reschedule later or if they should apply for the next posting.
Documents requested in the Board Interview invitation email are collected and reviewed by the Human Resources team.
Measurements are taken by a Pegasus official. Body Mass Index (BMI) is expected to be between 20 and 30.
In addition to language proficiency and technical skills, the candidate's social skills, interest in the profession, and motivation are evaluated:
The interview is generally conducted with one HR representative and two Captain Pilots. The session is held in Turkish and English. Honesty, self-awareness, and alignment with Pegasus' corporate culture are expected.
Basic knowledge of Mathematics, Physics, and Geography is also evaluated during interviews.
MMPI Personality Inventory, hospital process, and workplace physician exam
Candidates passing the Board Interview receive the MMPI Personality Inventory via email and are expected to complete it within the specified time.
Following this, candidates proceed to the Medical Check (Fitness for Flight) stage.
The medical check consists of two parts:
1. Obtaining a medical report from an Aeromedical Center authorized by the DGCA (SHGM).
2. An entry-level medical examination by the workplace physician at Pegasus Headquarters.
Candidates who successfully complete these stages are placed on a waitlist for fleet assignment, while those with negative results have their application terminated.
Pegasus directs candidates to an authorized Aeromedical Center to obtain a Class 1 Medical Certificate and covers the costs of this examination.
Once examinations and tests across various departments are completed, the medical report is prepared and forwarded to the Pegasus workplace physician.
Candidates who already possess a Class 1 Medical Certificate can submit their results to Pegasus via email. If the certificate is up to date, it is accepted by the workplace physician.
NOTE:
For detailed information on the scope of the medical report, requirements for the Class 1 Medical Certificate can be reviewed by searching for 'SHGM pilot medical certificate'.
Requested documents must be delivered to Pegasus Headquarters on the designated appointment day.
The workplace physician evaluates the medical report and performs a general examination. Additionally, 'My Medications' and 'My Hospital Visits' pages from e-Nabız are checked in detail.
The result of each situation is communicated via email. Successful candidates proceed with fleet assignment and training planning.
Training cost, repayment process, and benefits
Key points regarding the contract process are as follows:
Contract signing process, document check, and training briefing
The signature day held at Pegasus Headquarters generally consists of the following steps:
Basic training, type rating, and line training stages
Candidates usually start the training process within a few days after signing the contracts. The process consists of these stages:
Approx. 15 Months
Includes solo flights, instructor-led flights, and simulator sessions.
Approx. 4 Months
Conducted on Airbus A320 or Boeing 737 types based on company needs.
Ground school and simulator flights are performed.
The process is completed with a Base Check performed on an actual aircraft.
At this stage, the LIFUS (Line Flying Under Supervision) period begins:
Operational flights are performed in the right seat accompanied by a supervisor pilot.
The program usually covers 100 hours or 40 sectors of flight.
Upon successful completion of all stages, candidates can begin their flight duties as Second Officers.
Conditions for rescheduling exams and interviews
Candidates failing the first or second English exam are given extra time to submit a valid language certificate. If submitted within the period, the process continues from CASE. Otherwise, the application is terminated, and they must reapply in the next posting period.
Candidates can learn their exam results via the notification email sent by Pegasus.
Candidates failing any of these stages should follow the instructions in the notification email. The email states that the candidate can request a reschedule via the same communication after a specific minimum period or must reapply for the next posting.
As long as the required conditions are met, re-application for new postings is possible.
